Bohlsen is one of the oldest mills in Lower Saxony.
The history of the watermill dates back at least to the 13th century (this has been authenticated), but possibly even as far back as the 10th century.
| 1979 | Volker Krause took over the mill from his father Helmut Krause and began with the exclusive processing of certified organic grain. At this point there were 2 workers in the mill – today we have grown to 140 employees. | |
| 1979 | two regional organic farmers delivered their grain to the mill – today there are already 120 growers from the "ÖKO-KORN-NORD" cooperative and many others delivering XXX tons of grain a year. | |
| 1983 | Helmut Vollmer, one of Germany’s first organic bakers, joined the group and started the first small natural and certified organic bakery. | |
| 1988 | hydrothermic machines for the flaking production were installed. | |
| 1989 | construction and start up of a modern wholemeal certified organic bakery | |
| 1995 | warehouse and office buildings were expanded. | |
| 2000 | the mill obtained a high performance Emmer hulling machine | |
| 2001 | first plans are made for an extensive expansion of the company on the out skirts of the town Bohlsen. The groundbreaking ceremony was in 2003. | |
| 2004 | tape-cutting ceremony of the new premises, which is simultaneous with the 25th anniversary of the fully organic processing company. | |
| 2005 | A new industrial oven was implemented and the company management moved into the new location. | |
| …and Bohlsener Mühle is still growing: in 2007 we began planning for a further extension of the mill and warehouse. |
